Brothers - The Micah Duarte Perkins Experience

This is the change we've been waiting for most of the year. The arrival of Caleb's baby brother!
Introducing Micah Duarte Perkins!

He was born at 5:01am on September 23rd, 2008. Weighing in at 7 pounds, 5.2 ounces, and 1 foot, 8 inches long, the man of the hour, tower of power....
Well, mostly he sleeps and eats, but he sure is good at both! The birth was a process, as all births are, but he powered through and is doing great. All systems go. Mama was amazing and is recovering well while Dad and Caleb keep the apartment warm.

Here he is in his Mama's hands:

And with Uncle Sean:
And here is Caleb teaching him how to smile!
Caleb has been great so far, even kissing and hugging Micah when he was crying. He's going to be a great big bro.

Fimmin'

Caleb has started swimming lessons - and this week his Papa took him. They don't really swim so much, mainly just sing kids songs in the pool and kick, but Caleb still likes to talk about going "fimmin!"

Pumpkin Picking

Yesterday, we took Caleb to a farm for a hay ride and pumpkin picking. It wasn't exactly fall weather (it was about 90 degrees!) but he got into the mood anyway...

The pics below are him picking out pumpkins for himself, his baby brother and Katie and Jackson. He kept picking up pumpkins and then rejecting them because they were dirty. Apparently, he's a city kid...

Labor Day weekend trip to the beach...

We decided to brave the traffic, the crowds, and the sun on Labor Day weekend to hit the beach. Despite leaving at beach rush-hour, we made it down quick, found a great parking spot, and a great spot near the water. Caleb has turned beach bum, and seemingly can't get enough of the sand and the ocean (and even the shower up near the boardwalk)!
Here he is below smiling for the camera with his beautiful mama!Below, puffing his chest out, practicing to meet the waves head on!

Now contemplating a new project:
Checking out the mechanics of the camera...
Here he is surveying his oceanic domain...
He was afraid of the sand and the water at the beginning of the summer. What a difference! Now he's out in the waves that Hurricane Gustav sent up to New Jersey, and you have to drag him out. That makes his dad awful happy! What a summer!

Caleb's Birthday Party

Caleb had his 2nd birthday party a little early this year since Mommy is due with his baby brother a few days after his birthday. Who knows...maybe he'll get a baby brother for his birthday this year!!!

Great Uncle Walt got Caleb an Elmo cupcake to enjoy. He really loved it and he hasn't had that much sugar since his last birthday.

I know it sounds crazy, but Caleb had to be talked into opening his gifts. He would rip off one piece of paper and then walk around with it like that was the toy! We kept having to call him back to convince him that there was a toy under all that paper!

The picture above is of Caleb on his new digger. He couldn't even wait for us to put it together before he went around the house for a ride. I'm not sure what he likes better...the digger or the hat!
